KAAYIA Award > Eligibility & Criteria

 Who is Eligible for the award?

The award seeks young leaders who are currently leading development efforts in the Arab world that bring to life the notion of active citizenship. Applicants will need to demonstrate significant contribution to the local community through their project; their project’s potential for increased impact and how they could be role models for other young people.

 Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the award:

  • Applicant should be between the ages of 18 to 30
  • Applicant should be a citizen of an Arab country
  • Applicant should be the founder of an existing project that has 6 months to 3 years of demonstrated social impact within the local community

 The Selection Criteria

 The selection of applicants and their projects will be based on the following three criteria:

  1. Leadership and Innovation:

    • The applicant must demonstrate an innovative approach to respond to a need within the community.
    • The applicant must have a clearly defined vision and mission for the project.
    • The applicant must demonstrate a clear awareness and knowledge of the issues related to the chosen field of activity.
    • The applicant must possess and demonstrate leadership qualities including the capacity to inspire and lead others, and a commitment to learn from others.


  2. Collaboration and Partnership:

    • The applicant’s work must demonstrate innovative strategies that can generate support for the project.
    • The applicant will also be evaluated on the capacity to establish and maintain partnerships.

  3. Impact and Sustainability:

    • The applicant must demonstrate the current and potential impact of the project on the community.
    • The project should be sustainable and have the potential to expand.
